Presentation by Frances Sawaya
The latest of the Cavan Monaghan Art and Craft Network series of social gatherings was held in the Hotel Kilmore on 15th November. As usual the committee had issued invitations to all members and were delighted that 15 were able to come along.
The speaker was one of our members, Frances Sawaya. Frances is an internationally renowned quilter and she brought along some examples of her wonderful work. She gave a highly entertaining talk on quilting and patchwork and told us the stories behind her work. After the talk we had a question and answer session and the questions came thick and fast. Frances was very generous with her responses and gave detailed replies to our questions. Afterwards the prolonged applause was an indication of just how much we had enjoyed and appreciated Frances and the talk.
As this was to be our last get together before Christmas the committee had asked members to bring a small gift. Everyone was very generous and the exchange of presents added to the fun of the evening.
The evening ended with some light refreshments including festive mulled wine and mince pies. It was agreed that it had been a most enjoyable event and a good start (if a little early) to the Christmas season.
The next Network social evening will be held in Monaghan and details will be circulated in the New Year.
