A GREAT DAY OUT
The Craft Network had their annual day out in July; where we met at the Kilmore Hotel in the early morning and headed off to Mayo to the National Museum of Country Living.
A beautiful location and a lovely museum - on arrival we had a cup of coffee, a must after the journey! And then we had a look around in the gift shop before going into an hour long corn dolly class in which we learned how to create ‘love knots’ from little sheaf’s of corn, good fun, we all really enjoyed it, even the boys, and there was only two of them and one of those was the bus driver!
After that we had lunch together which was very entertaining as Sean Cassidy had us all in ‘stitches’ with a hilarious story, of course it’s ‘the way he tells ‘em’!
Lunch over we then went on our guided tour of the Museum, very interesting to see how people lived in by-gone days, certainly makes you appreciate all of today’s ‘mod-cons’. After the tour we all had a chance to wander around on our own for a while and then we climbed aboard our bus and headed home with enough time to stop off at the Foxford Woollen Mills and finish the day with a cappuccino and a slice of carrot cake (yummy!), that’s what I had anyway!
It was a lovely day out and really nice to catch up with fellow craft workers and the only negative thing about it was that we had a very poor turn out, only twelve people and it only cost €10 a head including lunch, so we hope more of you will join us on our next day out and we might even get Sean to tell us another one of his funny stories!
